This award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who have created commercially viable businesses within the chemical enterprise. Starting with a good idea, sustained by passion, fueled by persistence and hard work, the award recipient created something where nothing existed before. The awardee is recognized for creating a new product, service, company, or industry based on the transforming power of chemistry to improve people’s lives. The hallmark of this contribution is impact: positive impact on people’s lives and positive impact on the economy by creating chemistry jobs that produce a significant economic benefit.

The 2023 awardee is Geofrey K. Wyatt. He is the CEO of Wyatt Technologies, Inc. of Santa Barbara, California. Wyatt Technology is the recognized leader in light scattering instrumentation and field-flow fractionation systems for determining the absolute molar mass, size, charge and interactions of macromolecules and nanoparticles in solution. Wyatt’s scientific tools support the pharmaceutical industry, academia and government labs worldwide, in the research and development of novel therapeutics including vaccines, gene vectors, nano-drug carriers, monoclonal antibodies, and other advanced pharmaceuticals, as well as fundamental life and material sciences. The time and location of the award symposium will be announced when the full program is available at www.acs.org.
