ACS 249th National Meeting, Denver CO, March 22-26, 2015, Chemistry of Natural Resources
Abstract submission is now open for the ACS Spring 2015 meeting in Denver. PACS will be retired after the last regional meeting in 2014 and the new MAPS is being used for abstract submission, see C&EN, August 25, 2014 or go to http://acs.org/denver2015. MAPS is not difficult to use, but you need to log on with your ACS login ID. Abstract submission closes on October 20, 2014. Send any questions you have on SCHB’s technical program toprogram@acs-schb.org.
Reserve your discounted expo booth for the Denver Meeting
As an exclusive member benefit, SCHB members (owner or employee) may reserve a standard 10 ft x 10 ft booth in the Denver Expo for $500, which includes two expo admissions and one full meeting registration. To receive this special member benefit discount price (“standard” expo booth prices start at $2,000) you must initiate the process through SCHB at expo-booth@acs-schb.org.
ACS 2014 Regional Meetings
SCHB is organizing sessions at and sponsoring the four remaining regional meetings in 2014. The program is set for SERMACS and CERM, but you can still become involved at MWRM and SWRM.
SERMACS will be October 16-19, 2014 in Nashville TN, see http://www.sermacs2014.org/.
CERM will be October 31-November 1, 2014 in Pittsburgh PA, see  http://www.pittsburghacs.org/national/
MWRM will be November 12-15, 2014 in Columbia MO, see http://www.mwrm2014.org/ or send any questions toprogram@acs-schb.org.
SWRM will be November 19-22, 2014 in Fort Worth TX, http://www.swrm2014.org/
Call for Candidates: 2014 SCHB Election for Treasurer (2-year term)
Consider serving as an SCHB Division officer!
This year, the SCHB Election for Treasurer (2 year term) will be held in late October. The duties of the Treasurer shall be to have charge of the funds of the Division, to collect dues and other revenues, to make all disbursements subject to the approval of the Executive Committee and to submit a report to the Division of its annual meeting. The Treasurer is also expected to partici­pate in the Executive Committee activities, including monthly tele­conferences and business meetings. Term for this position begins on January 1, 2015. Interested candidates should send a biography (no more than 250 words) with an emphasis on ACS activities to Patrick Kearney at  secretary@acs-schb.org (SCHB Division Secretary) by  Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Candidates will receive confirmation of eligibility by the secretary before inclusion on the ballot.
